Man dies in 4WD crash

A 57-year-old man died in a single-vehicle crash near Ararat, in western Victoria, today.

Police believe the man was travelling east on Logan Road in a Holden four-wheel-drive when the vehicle ran off the road near Jacksons Creek Road and rolled into a culvert.

The man, the driver and sole occupant of the car, was found at the scene by a passerby at about 8am this morning.

Police said at this stage it was unknown when the vehicle left the road.

The state’s road toll now stands at 141, compared to 157 at this time last year.
