Firefighter burned in restaurant blaze

A Melbourne firefighter has been treated for burns after helping douse an inner-city blaze at a Korean restaurant.

The MFB said the fire broke out in the kitchen of the White Tomato restaurant in Bourke Street about 1.40am today.

Flames spread from the kitchen to the above mezzanine level.

Twenty-seven firefighters attended the scene and brought the fire under control in 30 minutes.

An MFB spokeswoman said one firefighter was taken to hospital with burns to the face, but had since been released.

The blaze caused an estimated $200,000 in damage. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
